Getting started with RecipeMemoir
Everything you need to go from "I have a pile of recipes" to "here's my own beautiful recipe site," in a few minutes. Jump to what you need:
📥 Add your recipes
There are four ways to get recipes in. Use whichever fits what you already have.
- Import from Paprika. Have a Paprika collection? Export it to a
.paprikarecipesfile, then go to Import and drop the file in. Every recipe and photo comes across. - Paste a recipe link. On Find recipes, paste the URL of any recipe page. We read the page, pull out the ingredients, steps, and photo, and save a clean copy. No ads, no life story. That page also lists our favorite recipe sites to explore.
- Type one in by hand. Want to add Grandma's handwritten card? Add it manually with its own photo.
New here? The quickest start is the welcome walkthrough, which takes you from signing in to a live site in four steps.
🔎 Find a recipe
- Search by name or ingredient from the box on the home page (try "lemon" or "poblano").
- Browse everything on Browse all, and narrow it with the category filters (meal, cuisine, dish type, and more).
- Favorites and lists keep your go-to recipes together. Tap the heart on any recipe to favorite it.
👩🍳 Cook from it
Open any recipe and it's built for actually cooking, not just reading.
- Scale the servings up or down and every ingredient amount recalculates.
- Switch US or Metric with one toggle.
- Start a timer from a step. Any time mentioned in the directions (like "simmer 20 minutes") is tappable, tap it to start a timer.
✏️ Edit and personalize
- Sign in with your email. We send you a magic link, no password to remember. Once you're signed in, the recipes are yours to change.
- Edit anything on a recipe: the title, ingredients, steps, notes, servings, or photo. Your edits save to your collection, not anyone else's.
- Fix a photo. Swap in a better picture, or use the built-in tools to sharpen a blurry one.
You can read and cook from any public site without signing in. Signing in is only needed to add or change recipes on your own collection.
🌷 Your own recipe site
This is the heart of RecipeMemoir: your collection becomes a real, shareable website.
- Pick a style. Browse the style gallery and choose the look you love, from warm and country to clean and editorial. Your recipes fill it in live as you look.
- Get your link. Your site lives at
recipememoir.com/u/your-handle. Share it with family and friends, no app or password needed to view it. - Change the look anytime. Try a different style whenever you want; your recipes stay put.
✨ Nutrition, AI notes, and tidying up
- Nutrition. Recipes show per-serving nutrition rings. Where a recipe didn't come with numbers, we estimate them from the ingredients and label them as an estimate.
- AI commentary. On a recipe, open a commentary mode for a chef's-eye tip, a budget angle, a kid-friendly note, a healthier swap, or make-ahead and storage advice.
- Clean up duplicates. Imported years of clippings? The cleanup tools find duplicate recipes and let you merge or archive them safely, nothing is deleted without a way back.
- Sharpen blurry photos. The photo tools sort your blurriest photos to the front so you can upscale or replace them.
🔓 Your data is always yours
RecipeMemoir is built so you can leave whenever you want, with everything.
- Export your whole collection as a JSON file at any time, for free. PDF and print-ready formats are on the roadmap.
- A print-ready cookbook export (gift it or self-publish it) is planned; until then, every recipe page prints beautifully on its own.
We keep the door open on purpose. Your recipes went in easily, and they come out just as easily.
Stuck on something, or wishing it did something it doesn't? Tell us here, we read every note.
